digitales bauen® was founded in 1998 with the goal of putting into practice the experiences and findings of the long-established research at the University of Karlsruhe, Institute for Industrial Building Production.
Out of this context, an innovative planning method was developed. This method systematically breaks down individual architectural designs and technical building concepts into modules, and then comprehensively integrates and details them. As a model for developing this process, we refer to established industrial manufacturing processes which already employ integrated modular planning and assembly procedures.
In addition to construction projects, we are involved in a variety of research projects in partnership with other sectors of the industry in order to pave the way for a broader use of these new planning and construction methods.
As a result, several product innovations have already emerged and been developed all the way to a market-ready condition, for example: CAD/CAM parts for implementation of coordinated routing plan on the construction site, digital documentation that allows for a project-wide structured documentation that can be accessed over an internet platform.
